‘I know Pete told me when he came back after you checked him out ‘Colby says “She is in a world of hurt but that doesn’t excuse her hurting Pete and I. She could have harmed my baby thank God she didn’t!’

‘I hear that your daughter Rose would like to take some more courses at the university but they are throwing up roadblocks because of her age!’Adam says slyly
“So nothing I can’t handle I’m sure I can them to change their minds.’ David replies
‘One phone call and that is all it would take from me I know the Chancellor personally. We are golfing buddies from way back! I also heard that you’d like to get Rose into Happy valley private school because of the advance courses offered there.’ Adam says setting out lures
‘So I can get her in their too so what!’David says
‘ Can you offer an endowment to the pathology department of this hospital in the amount of 20 million dollars a research grant for a scientist to work on gene therapies sanctioned by our government?’Adam asks
‘So what’s the catch Adam what do you want for all this generosity?’Asks David
‘A simple pro quo! You offer my son in law Pete Cortlandt a job in the pathology department something he’s eminently qualified for with his three degrees. He never has to know that I was behind his job .Deal?’Adam asks
‘Are you trying to harm Pete because I won’t help you there Adam .Pete’s been through enough. That Kira chick was a whacko! And he’s going to be a father. Heaven knows he’s going to need some help there.” David says
‘I’m not heartless you know Hayward! My daughter loves the bum! He hasn’t a job and I’d like to see him be able to support her and his child. A man needs to be able to feel he can do that.’ Adam says looking embarrassed
‘Huh and they say you are not human!’David says’ Fine I’ll do it deal! Pete will receive the jon offer from me but it’s up to him whether he wants to except or not and our hospital gets the money for the department either way!’

Colby’s hospital room a little while later
“Where have you been Adam? That took you a long time to get that coffee’ Krystal says as Adam comes in with four cups of coffee
‘That hallways machine malfunctioned I had to get this at the cafeteria and there was a long line up!’Adam lies skilfully
‘Oh!’Says Krystal ’Thanks!’
‘Yes thanks daddy .I’m craving coffee!’’
‘Yours is decaf ‘says Adam
‘Hello sweetheart!’Says Pete coming in
‘Oh Pete! Your arm is broken you have a cast and everything!’Colby says
‘Well at least it isn’t my writing arm!’Pete says ‘I’ve got good news Colby you’ll never guess!’

‘I got a job offer and I took it! Dr. Hayward has offered me a research job in the pathology department I’m starting on the ground floor but it’s exciting work in Gene therapy !do you know how many people I could help with this?’ Asks Pete excited!
‘Congratulations, my boy! You do my daughter proud!’ Adam says shaking a surprised Pete’s hand as Colby smiles at her dad and so does Krystal both proud of Adam
“Oh Pete I’m so proud of you!’Colby says hugging Pete “and look here is our baby!’

‘So when can she go home Jake?’ Asks Pete
‘Anytime! ’Jake says
‘Pete would you and Colby consider staying with Krystal and I for a few days we would be honoured to have you stay with us just for awhile until your both feeling better.’Adam asks humbly
‘Thanks if Colby wants to we could stay for a short time.’ Pete says smiling not quite believing that Adam is being not only civil but inviting him to stay at his house!
‘Thanks Pete! I miss my daughter and I’d like to get to know my son-in law better if he’ll let me. After all I’m going to be a grandfather again!’Adam says
