They race to get Randi stabilized .The neurologist is called and he comes down to the OR.
“How bad is Randi?” asks Frankie after Dr. Bell checks her over.
“Randi has suffered an embolic stroke which means we can probably use TPA. T.P.A of course being Tissue plasminogen activator. But we must make sure there is no intracranial bleeding as you are aware Dr. Hubbard that precludes the use of it so we need to do a CT scan.”
“Just do it.” Frankie says
‘This might take some time Franklin maybe you’d like to spend some time with your new son. A fine looking boy have you to picked out a name.” asks Dr. Bell.”
“Thanks Pete. Thanks for looking after my wife I’m sorry for being sharp with you.”Frankie says
“Frank I studied under Dr. Maria Santos-Grey. That woman was top notch one of the finest neurosurgeon’s in the country.” Dr. Bell says
“Maria has applied to work here. Had you heard that?”Frankie says
“Frank I’m good but she’s better maybe you should call her in. Knowing you and Randi so well it’s hard for me to look at her this way and treat her.” Dr. Bell
“If you think Maria can help could you call her for me Pete?” Frankie begs
“Sure Frank will get all the tests done though and administer the T.P.A.. If we can first than we will call in Maria.” Dr. Pete Bell says
“Thanks Pete” Frank says “my son’ name is Martin for martin Luther king and all the wonderful Martin’s in my life”
‘Nice! Martin Hubbard sounds like a strong name for strong boy. Why don’t you take him out and show him off to your mom. I’m sure she’d like to see him while we do the CT scan.”Pete says
“I’ll get out of your way for a few minutes and do just that. I want to show off my boy anyway.” Frankie says proudly
Angie, Andrew, Jesse, Tad, Dottie ,Jenny, Greg and Yvonne are all praying in the chapel for Randi and baby
“Would you like to see one of the most beautiful sights in the world?” asks Frankie as he wheels in Martin in a bassinet
“Oh Frankie he is the most beautiful thing in the world .may I pick the baby up?” asks Angie
‘Go ahead Mom and it’s a boy. He’s 8lbs 6oz.” Frankie says proudly
“So did you think of a name? I was thinking of Thaddeus.” jokes Tad
‘Well that did cross our minds it wasn’t our first choice.”Frankie says “Our first choice was Martin Jesse.”
“Really?” Tad say shocked ‘Martin you named him Martin? After me?”
“Well it’s partly you and partly Martin Luther King.” Frankie states ”You are one of my Dad’s best friend’s after Jenny .If it had been a girl we were thinking of Jenny but figured that was taken with your daughter Tad.”
“I am so honoured.” Tad says
“Me too!’says Jesse ‘My grandson has my name.”
“He’s so handsome Frankie .don’t you think so Andrew?’ asks Yvonne
“Of course he is he takes the best of both his Grandpas and his great grandpa!”Andrew says
“How is Randi?”Asks Angie handing the baby to Yvonne
“Not good mom! She’s had a stroke there doing tests to see if they can give her T.P.A.hopefully they can and then she’ll stabilize and not be effected so bad but i really don’t know how we are going to care for Martin as well as Randi. This is going to cost a fortune.”Frankie”that sounds bad but what I’m really worried is Randi will need a team of health professionals with different skills working together to help the patient. These include nursing staff, physiotherapy, occupational therapy physiotherapy (OT), speech and language therapy and a rehabilitation doctor. All of these people have to paid and Randi may need all of these. Plus Martin will need care when I’m working and I work long hours. Mom what am I going to do?”
“You are going to relax son. I know you and Randi don’t know me well but she’s my granddaughter and I want to help. I’ve made my money over the years playing the stock market and selling my company and retiring. So I want to help let me cover everything she needs please?’Begs Andrew
“I don’t know Andrew we may have to get a bigger place to have all the staff come in too our apartment is too small.”Frankie states “It is big money commitment for you it isn’t fair to ask you for this.”
“Give me this opportunity as for a place to help my granddaughter and great grandson please? As for the apartment I just bought the old Hunter Mansion and it has many wings in it you could move in with me have your own separate wing until Randi recuperates. I won’t infringe on your privacy.”Andrew begs
Frankie looks a Yvonne then says”I’d like to take you up on your offer but Yvonne has to be able to come visit Randi has gotten really close with her mother.”
‘Fine can’t say I’ll like seeing Yvonne but in the interests of my granddaughter’s health I can put up with her. Just let me know when he’s coming so I can avoid her.”Andrew agrees
‘Thank-you Andrew that is really generous of you?’Yvonne says
“Just see that you don’t get in my way Yvonne.”Andrew says ”I don’t want to see you.
“Martin looks a lot like my boy but also like his daddy” Andrew continues
“I have to take Martin to the nursery and see how Randi is “Frankie says
“Frankie Randi has had T.P.A. and Maria is on the way so far no change she is still in a coma but I’m sure she’d love to hear your voice talk to her.”Dr.Bell says
‘Thanks Pete .I’ll be in shortly.”Frankie says
“I have to go back to work but I’ll be saying prayers for Randi.” says Jesse
“Yes that Mayor Blanco is a pain always interfering in your job.She’d use your absence to get rid of you!’ ”Frankie says
‘Who did you say?” asks Andrew shocked “Did you say Blanco is that Iris Blanco who is the mayor?”
“Yes she’s the Mayor of Happy Valley. Why?”Asks Frankie
“Because she’s the evil bitch who gave away Randi and got my boy killed.”Andrew says
Frankie gets an angry look on her face as does Angie ,Jesse, Tad, and Yvonne.all thinking of the damage done to Randi by Iris Blanco!
