Meanwhile back in Aaron’s room as the Easter sun comes up Aaron blinks opens one eye and then the other to see Dottie sitting beside his bed!
“Ah hello Mrs.Martin !Where am I what am I doing here?’ he says as he looks around!
“Hello Aaron you had an accident !Do you remember? asks Dottie cautiously
“Sort of .....Kathy oh no Kathy she saw Keisha and me together!’says Aaron remembering”she must hate me!’Why are you siting here where’s my mother?’
“Aaron do you remember anything else?’asks Dottie
“My mother came home and she found us together!she was mad really really mad !Only she wasn’t mom! Something happened to her again!’says Aaron
“This has happened before?’asks Dottie
“Yes along long time ago Mom went into the hospital because she wasn’t right!It was after Dad died! She spent ayear in hospital and I lived in foster care!When she got out she took me form the foster home.she had all out property in a rental truck and she said we had to change our last name from Collins to McGillis!’says Aaron”I promised her I wouldn’t tell I was only five but I promised and now I’ve told you oh my mother will hate me!’Aaron cries out terrified
“Aaron what happened when your mother came home?’asks Dottie trying to get Aaron to tell her what Caitlin had done.
“She came home but she was so different and so angry she grabbed me like she was a very strong man and she shook me and demanded to know what I had been doing how I could disgrace her like this.she chased me up the stairs punching me kicking me beating me.......and then”.....gulping tears and crying here stumbling over the words he doesn’t want to say”she,she,pushed me down the stairs!why why did my mother hurt me why does hs hurt me?’asks Aaron”I love her but she doesn’t love me!’heart wrenching sobs coming from Aaron as Dottie hugs him and says
“Your mother loves you very much but something happened to her I don’t know waht that was but she broke from it !She’s fractured into tiny pieces of people she once knew!She told me she was Patrick your dead grandfather,and Emma your dead grandmother,and Erin your dead aunt! She lost all these people and some other trauma holds deep ins ide of her something she can’t talk about that’s eating her up inside.But inside all of that she still loves you hold that tight Aaron!She will get better and she will deeply regret any harm her alter has donw to you!’says Dottie
“I wish you were my mom!’ says Aaron
“Right now maybe you do feel that way she hurt you!Repeatedly !Do you hate her?’asks Dottie
“I want to but I really do!she pushed me down the stairs she could have killed me!’says Aaron quietly but I can’t I remember the mom who stood between me and that man who was my Dad and kept him fromhurting me even as he hit her!i remeber the woman who di without so I could have money for football equipment!’She really is sick isn’t she it’s not her fault!
“No Aaron it’s not but she needs help!she stoled a baby tonight I think she’s confused and thinks theat baby boy that belongs to Annie Courtlandt is you!’says Dottie
“Oh no!’What can I do to help her?asks Aaron then suddenly as everything comes back to him he says ”oh my goodness Kathy I forgot about Kathy mom said she was pregnant but her heart ? Her heart that can’t be good is she oaky tell me Kathy is okay!begs Aaron
“Kathy is here in the hospital!She had avery bad attack after finding you with Keisha!
“But she’s okay she and the baby are okay? Tell me they’re okay! begs Aaron interrupting
“She lost the baby Aaron I’m sorry it was a boy!she named him Aaron Jr.!’says Dootie sadly
“Oh she must hate me first I pressure her into making love with me! Then she gets pregnant kidnapped and has heart problems and loses our baby!How she must hate me!’I hate me!’says Aaron very contrite and self loathing
“Aaron she loves you still she begged TJ and I to sit with you and beg you to wake upas she loves you!’says Dottie
“How could she love me I’m horrible and I almost slept with Keisha!’says Aaron
“She loves you get it through your head Aaron Mcgillis you will not hurt her again will you!’asks dootie fiercely protecting Kathy
“No I never will Mrs.Martin never again!Kathy is precious to me!she is my moon my stars my everything without her I feel so dead inside!’Are you sure she still loves me?’asks aaron hoping that Dottie is right
“Aaron would I be here if she didn’t !She wants to come to you I promised to get her when you awoke!’There is a guard outside I’ll be right back with her!’promises Dottie
“Are you sure she should be out of bed?’asks Aaron
“Wild horses couldn’t keep her from you!’says Dottie
“But my mom and the baby she took what can I do about that?’asks Aaron
“I have an idea about that too!’says Dottie ‘Leave this in my hands I will find your mom and get her help and get the baby back!’
“Wow Mrs.Martin, are you superwoman?’asks Aaron only half joking
“Today is Easter you arose from a coma with God’s good grace and Caitlin will arise from her deep sleep and return that baby to it’s rightful mother! With God’s help I think I know what to do to help your mom!’ says Dottie and I’ll get someone to bring Kathy to you!’
“I beginning to believe that The Martin’s were very lucky to get you Mrs.Martin!’says Aaron
“I think they do at least I hope they do’says Dottie smiling as she leaves
