Danielle opens the door of Chandler’s Fine Clothing.
“Yes may I help you?’ says a sales clerk immediately
“I have an interview with Ms.Chandler. I’m from Bravo magazine!’ says Danielle
“Oh Ms.Chandler’s not here yet .she should be here soon though .She just finishing up her class!’ says the sales clerk politely
‘Is there somewhere I can wait out of the way?’ asks Danielle
“Well I don’t know! See this is only my second day on the job! Melanie she’s the manager that hired me but she was only here five minutes this morning and she disappeared. I’ve been trying to run the store and I really don’t know what I’m doing!’ the sales clerk admits then says “Oh no what have I done? You‘re the press you’re not going to print this are you because I’m sure that this isn’t usual! I mean look at this shop it’s so upscale and yet trendy!’ If you print that I’m going to get fired and it’s only my second day!’ says the clerk covering ”Here’s a stool you can sit in!
“Thank-you of course I’ll keep what you told me in confidence. This is really a promotional piece we’d really like to promote Chandler’s Fine Clothing and bring the customers in for Ms.Chandler.’ says Danielle
“Oh a fluff piece must be the pits getting sent on one of those when you’re a journalist! says the clerk ’I’m Ashlee! You know like Ashlee Simpson! I changed the spelling right after she changed hers! So if you put my name in the piece that’s how you spell it! It’s Ashlee Sampson!’ says Ashlee
“Thanks good to know for my piece!’ says Danielle pretending to write it down as Colby comes in the store .
“Oh are you the new clerk Melanie hired? What’s your name?’ asks Colby
“It’s Ashlee Sampson like Ashlee Simpson!’ Ashlee responds
“Nice to meet you but do you know where Melanie is? I have to talk to her!’ asks Colby
“Ms.Chandler the press is waiting!’ says Ashlee urgently
“Press? Where is the Press? asks Colby
“Hi Colby it’s me Danielle Frye! Annie Chandler sent me from Bravo!’ says Danielle
“That woman sent you? I thought my Dad said he’d gotten a reputable magazine to cover my store. No offence Danielle but you don’t know that woman’s story! Annie’s magazine he got Annie to cover me? I thought he would have sent Tempo! I mean I know he doesn’t own it anymore but Annie? ’whines Colby “just a minute I have to go into my office for something I‘ll be right back! ‘she says without waiting for a answer
“Typical Colby Chandler!’ thinks Danielle ”waltzes in after she’s left the place run itself then complains about her Daddy helping her!
“Danielle fancy meeting you here!’ says Pete coming in
“Why Pete Chandler aren’t you a tall drink of water! Who would have known that nerdy little boy would sprout muscles and look so hot!’flirts Danielle
“Why Danielle Fyre are you talking to me? It’s good to see you again Daniellle ! We missed you even if we transplanted ourselves to Happy Valley! With all that happened there the last few years the tornados, the murders before that.....! Oh God! I’m sorry Dani I should have brought that up he says reaching out and hugging Danielle when he sees her turn pale and start to shake at the mention of the murders !Just at that moment Colby comes out and sees her husband hugging Danielle.
“Oh I see you’ve met my husband again Dani! ’I’m Colby Chandler-Cortlandt now!' she says holding out her hand showing her rings. Her engagement ring a massive stone on top of a wedding band
“Congratulations to the both of you? When did this happen? asks Danielle
“We’ve been married about five months now!’ says Colby exaggerating a little
“It’s hard to believe it a Chandler marrying a Cortlandt what did you fathers say?’asks Danielle
“My father Palmer.... died ...about three months ago!’Pete says quietly stumbling a little words as Colby reaches out and hugs him and glares at Danielle
“I am sorry Pete!Your father was an incredibly debonair charming man .He treated me with the utmost kindness! Do you know he offered his plane to my Dad to fly me to Hawaii after my coma. He was a man among millions! I am sorrily grieved to hear this!’ says Danielle with heartfelt sadness
“That’s okay Danielle how could you have known!’ says Pete as Colby still glares
“And your dad Adam he’s okay?’asks Danielle
“He still blusters if that’s what you mean! He’s re-married he married Krystal again!’ My dad retired and left the business to Jr! But he still dabbles in the business that’s why you’re here!’
“I heard about his troubles!’ says Danielle
“Really you heard he lost his mind that he thought he killed his own brother only to find out that his crazy adopted nephew had? Is that what you heard Danielle?’Colby says nastily
“Colby !admonishes Pete
“Well she asked didn’t you Danielle!’ says Colby once again waspish like
“I’m sorry Colby it must have been hard to deal with” says Danielle
“Well you know all about that wouldn’t you Danielle wasn’t your stepfather a criminal some kind of drug lord?’says Colby
“That is enough Colby! You’ve gone too far! says Pete really angry
“I think I haven’t gone far enough when I come in here and my husband is hugging another woman who is blatantly flirting with my husband! I don’t need or want your stupid Bravo article get out of my story Danielle Frye and stay the hell the way from my husband is that clear!’ says Colby yelling and stomping her feet as she runs into her office Pete on her heels
“Pete I don’t think that‘s a good idea! Colby used to blow like that when I when I was younger and you just stayed out of her way until she calmed down! says Danielle getting ready to leave
“Bitch! Who do you think you are telling my husband how to handle me! Get out of my store before I strip you bald!’ says Colby turning around to bodily throw Danielle out of her store
Two customers who have slipped in and heard the whole thing say
“Have you ever seen the like of it the language on that young lady!’ says the one woman
“That’s the owner of this store Colby Chandler-Cortlandt !The apple does fall far from that tree she as crazy as her Daddy!’s ays the other woman as they both leave the store
“Colby grow up !We need business in this store right now it’s our only income! And you just scared off the customers as well as insulted one of our oldest friends ! What is wrong with you?’
“Oh Pete it’s been the worst day! I got my business accounting exam back and I’m flunking out how will I tell that to Daddy! He thinks all of us are geniuses at business!’Melanie who is suppose to be managing the store since my last manager left out has disappeared and the store is bleeding money. If we don’t start selling some merchandise soon I’m going to have to declare bankruptcy! And you don’t have a job and I might be pregnant! cries Colby with big sobs breaking down in Pete’s arms.
Meanwhile outside the store Danielle calls Annie
“Ms.Chandler I’m really sorry but I can’t get the story on Chandler’s Fine Clothing! says Danielle apologetically worry that she will now be fired
“It was Colby wasn’t it !She figured out that it was my magazine and she balked! I’m sorry Danielle that you had to put up with her! Is there anyway to write an article without her? He has to be positive! I know that goes against your journalistic teaching but Adam asked me this favour to try and help his spoiled daughter save her business and I couldn’t say no!’ explains Annie
I took some pictures before she arrived of the store and outside I suppose I could cobble an article together!’ says Danielle
“Thank-you Danielle even though you will be Caroll’s assistant, I’ll try to keep throwing a few stories for you to do your way if you pull this off! ’ Annie promises
“Thank-you Ms.Chandler! When do you need the article? ’ Danielle asks
“I actually need it as soon as possible we are waiting for it to put the magazine out!’ says Annie
“Okay your hard task master but it will be ready tomorrow morning even if i have to stay up all night!’ says Danielle
“Thanks Danielle I knew I was right to hire you !’says Annie
