“Don’t you just love these shoes Pete aren’t they darling?’ asks Colby coming into their apartment several bags in hand
“Colby what have I been telling you? We have no extra money for new shoes and oh my are those new clothes too? Colby!’ Pete says
“Don’t worry it’s not from our money it’s from my trust account!’ says Colby
“It is not! Your trust account is overdrawn your trustees called here yesterday about that! Your quarterly funds are not due again until June and it’s only May!’ says Pete
“You have to take them all back Colby!” demands Pete
“I hate you! You’re just mad the pregnancy test was negative!’Colby says
“Colby grow –up we have no money! Do you know what I had to do today! I had to go with my hat in my hand and beg our rent money from Tad!’Pete explains
“Daddy would have given it to me!’Colby pouts
“Quit acting like a child Colby I used to think this was cute but you know you have a lot of growing up . We have no money! Your shop is close to bankruptcy! And I borrowed money for the rent! What does that tell you?’Pete asks fed up and angry
“That you should get off your high horse and go get a job!’Colby says angry and flippantly
“That was beneath you Colby!’ Pete says in a low angry voice ”I’m out of here!’
“When will you be home?’Colby asks
“I’m not sure maybe never!’ says Pete angrily
“I hate you don’t be surprised if I’m not here when you get home!’Colby shouts back as Pete slams the door and Colby starts crying
Annie’s office
“Ah Ms.Chandler this is a Ms.DuPres to see you’ says Caroll throught the intercom
“Thank-you Caroll! Please send her in!’ says Annie wondering “Why is Greenlee here to see me is she here to tell me to stay away from her father?’
“Hello Annie! Greenlee says tentatively
“Hello Greenlee! What brings you here?’ asks Annie meanwhile thinking” as if I didn’t know!’
‘Ah I was wondering if you would come to lunch with me?’ Greenlee asks
“Why?’ asks Annie
“I’m throwing out an olive branch here you’d think you’d could catch it!’ Greenlee says snarkily
“I’m sorry you’re right! Thank-you I’d like that! Can I bring Scotty?’ asks Annie
“I was hoping that it could be just the two of us sort of a get to know you better lunch!’ Greenlee says “Do you think you could ask Emma to babysit?’
“I suppose but it is kind of short notice. Emma might not be able to babysit it is Saturday!’ Annie says picking up her phone “Em it’s mom I have a favor to ask! Could you babysit your little brother this afternoon?’
“Sure no problem I’ll come and get him. Can I borrow the car to bring him home?’ asks Emma
“As long as you drive safely and use the rear facing baby car seat!’ Annie says
“Sure no problem mom! See you in ten minutes okay!’Emma says
“Where would you like to go to lunch Greenlee?’ asks Annie
“I was thinking Dottie’s!’ says Greenlee
“Okay! That would be nice they have great food there!’ says Annie congenially
Emma arrives and they leave to walk to Dottie’s
Meanwhile at Dottie’s they are setting up for a private party the sign on the door says
