‘I met your grandmother once. She told me she didn’t like the company Amanda kept following Liza around like a puppy. She said that Liza was trouble.Not that I was any better but then I was the poor black guy from the wrong side of the tracks! She did however talk to Liza about her lies about me!’ Jesse says remembering
‘You did know my Grandma.’ Kira says ”she was the only one that loved me besides Pete!’
‘Your mom was troubled. ‘Jesse says
‘Troubled? My mom was not only in love with Amanda she was obsessed with every aspect of Liza’s life. So much that she dumped me for Colby! Colby was the perfect daughter because she was Liza’s. And then she’s dying does she tell me no! She takes off gets her face done like Liza and spends her last days with Colby! What about me what about but her real daughter?’ Kira whines”I don’t want to talk to you anymore go away Jesse Hubbard! Pulling her head in the window
‘Katrina I’m so sorry that people treated you that way. You are a special person.’ Pete says
“That’s why I love you Pete. You are so sweet. You’ll see we’ll be so happy with this baby.’ Kira says still with gun in hand
‘I’ll look after my child’ Pete says then asks “but tell me when did you take the test to find out you were pregnant?’
‘Ah this morning! Yes this morning at your apartment the test was just there! My head hurts why are you asking this?It’s not like I just found the test and it was positive!’Kira lies and denies
‘Kira you found the test didn’t you Colby’s pregnant!’ Pete exclaims
‘No nono nono nono nono!!!Rants Kira ‘She’s not it’s me I’m having your little girl!’
‘Kira do you hear yourself? Pete says sadly “you are upset about your mother’s obsession with Liza but isn’t that the same thing you’re doing with me?’
“No I’m not the same!’ Kira denies
‘Katrina the girl I knew the Katrina I knew was beautiful inside and out!’ Pete says
‘No she wasn’t! She was fat and ugly a big joke!’Kira interrupts
“No you were never that! You were a good person with a big heart!’Pete says
“Pete I do love you!’
‘Katrina” shouts Opal
‘Who’s calling my name I told you to all go away!’ Kira says
‘“Kira you remember me don’tcha?’Opal yells ‘It’s me Opal Cortlandt! Pete’s Mama!’
“I remember you used to give me cookies. You are a good mother always there for Pete.What do you want? Did you come for the wedding?’ asks Kira
‘ Kira honey can I come up. I’d like to see my boy!’ Opal yells up
‘I guess that would be okay but I’m not prepared for company! We’re getting ready for the honeymoon!’ Kira says ”we could probably give you five minutes right honey bunch!’ she says to Pet poking him with the gun
‘All right you can come up but only you! We don’t want everyone else to visit!’Kira yells
‘I don’t like this! The girl is unstable!’Jesse says” with you she will have another hostage.”
“I’m going and you are not stopping me Jesse! That’s my boy she has there!’ Opal insists
“I just hope I won’t have to rescue both of you!’ Jesse says just as Adam arrives
“What are you doing to get my son in law back Chief Hubbard?’ Adam demands
‘Now he’s your son in-law before he wasn’t fit to be the dirt under your feet” Jesse says
‘Just do your job Hubbard and save my son-in law!’Adam gripes
Katrina’s apartment‘Katrina honey it’s me Opal! Can I come in?’ Opal asks knocking on the apartment door
“I guess! Come in!’ Kira says smiling “I’m so glad you came to visit our apartment!’
‘Well you did invite me.” says Opal playing along
“This is so nice a family get together or first one! You know I was sorry to hear about Mr. Cortlandt. He was the nicest man I ever met other than Pete of course! He told me I was beautiful even when I was fat! He said true beauty was an inner thing and that I had in in spades! I miss visiting him!’Kira says
“You visited my Pete Cooney, My Palmer?’Asks Opal shocked
‘All the time. He wasn’t happy that I made myself over but he encouraged my nursing career! I saw him the week before he died. He said he loved you!’Kira says
“He did?’Says Opal hopeful
“I’m so glad I get to be part of your family your daughter in law! His daughter in law!’Kira says
‘Oh Honey you don’t have to marrying in to be part of the family! You can be a part without marrying Pete.” Opal says
‘But we have to!We have to get married now I’m having Pete’s baby’ Kira says
Opal looks at Pete who shakes his head!
“Then we need to get you into to see a doctor to make sure my grandbaby is fine!’Says Opal
‘But we’re leaving were getting married in Europe and honeymooning there!’ Kira says
‘Please Kira come with me see the doctor and let me throw you and Pete a real humdinger of a wedding.” Opal begs
‘I guess I could do that .Will you come with s Pete? ‘Kira asks putting down the gun believing Opal
‘Maybe Jesse could take us to the hospital he has a car!’Opal says
“I don’t know he’s acting weird like he thinks I did something wrong like he wants to arrest me!’ Kira says
‘Don’t you worry about that .I’ve known Jesse for a long time he’ll drive us .He’s Tad’s best friend and he will be excited about my grandbaby too!’ Opal coaxes untying Pete
‘Okay then come on Pete let’s go see about our baby ! I’m sure it’s a girl!’ she gushes taking Opal’s arm
‘Jesse were coming out and you can drive us to the hospital so Kira can see a doctor. A doctor for her baby you know!’ says Opal cryptically
“We’ll all take Kira to the doctor!’ says Jesse understanding then adding’ Congratulations momma and Granny!’
‘See what I tell you?’ asks Opal of Kira
‘I’m so happy i promise I‘ll be a good daughter=in-law and make Pete so happy!’ Kira promises smiling
Jesse puts her in the back seat with Opal and Pete in the front seat. They arrive at the hospital where they take Kira to an exam room
‘Who are you? You aren’t Dr. Clater!’ screams Kira ‘Where’s Dr. Clater Mother Cortlandt you promised a baby doctor!’
“I’m Dr. McGillis my sister is Dr.Seabrooke the baby doctor i’m jsut filling in for her!’ Caitlin says
‘Oh okay then!’Kira says
‘I’d like to take some blood if that’s okay to check the baby!’ Cailtin says
‘Can I speak to you for a second? Asks Opal
“Are you sure you’re the right woman to handle this?”Opal asks “I know she took my boy but she didn’t hurt him and he told me what she went through! She needs a lot of help and you just got out yourself from the funny farm.’
‘Who better I can understand why she reaching out this way and help her!’Caitlin says
Caitlin gets the blood tests back that confirm Kira is not pregnant! She says
“I need to take more blood Kira ‘
Okay go ahead I better get used to be a pin cushion!’ Caitlin injects Kira with a sedative
“ That wasn’t taking blood you’ve done something to me! Kira complains grabbing Opal’s hand scared “I want Pete! I want my Pete she starts yelling!’
‘Katrina you don’t need Pete. I’ll still be family to you! We’ll see your okay !’Opal promises seeing the little girl who used to eat cookies at her house ”but you have to let the doctor help you!’
‘Help me help me do what? ‘Says Kira sucking her thumb
”Help you find ways to cope honey because you can’t make someone loved you. you can’t go around hurting people to get what you want! Some day you’re going to find the right person for you not someone who is just nice to you! Someone who can love you! Because my Palmer was right about people and you are special! I’ll come back and visit you if I can!’ Opal says leaving to go see Pete and Colby
Colby’s hospital room“We’ve got to quit meeting like this!’Pete says to Colby
‘Oh Pete you’re okay!’Cries Colby feeling his face
‘Yes he’s okay but he should be checked out by a doctor’ Jake complains
‘Are you sure you’re okay? How’s our baby?’Pete asks
‘The baby is fine! But how did you know? Colby asks
“She had you’re pregnancy test she said it was hers.’ Pete explains
“Thank god she’s not pregnant?’ asks Colby
“No just really, really ill. I feel sorry for her Colby her life has been one big letdown after another!’
‘I guess I can find it my heart to forgive her and feel sorry for her. I was mean to her in high school! I regretted it but I should have never said such cruel taunts to her! ‘And our baby’s not harmed!Colby says ”she is locked up right though she can’t hurt us again?
‘No she’s under doctor’s care Mama got her into the doctor .She with her now!’Pete says
“Your mother has a big heart! I think that’s where you get it Pete!’ Colby says kissing him
“Are you sure you and the baby are okay?’ Pete asks again needing reassurance
“I have a concussion that’s what Dr. David told me.“He’s making me stay overnight!’ Colby complains
‘You just do what they say! I was scared out of my mind for you when Kira told me she had you in the closet!’ Pete remembers
‘We’re both okay now but you husband go let Jake check you out and make sure everything fine! Our baby needs his/or her Daddy in great shape!’Colby says as Pete obeys going with awaiting Jake
