The hospital chapel
Angie comes into the chapel and sees Andrew praying out loud
‘Please God you finally get me back to my Grandchild please don’t take her or my other great grandchild. Andrew begs ‘Please don’t take my Randi.’
‘Randi’s your grandchild asks Angie shocked and surprised
‘Yes I’m Andrew Morgan .Randi is my grandchild.’ Andrew says
‘But how did you find Randi? asks Angie
“Is everyone that knows Randi coming out of the woodwork?’Angie asks no one in particular
‘Are you a friend of my Randi’s? Asks Andrew ’More prayers might help her and my new Grand babe
‘I’m her mother-in law my son Franklin is her husband.’ Angie explains
‘I saw Randi in an ad for Fusion.’ Andrew answers “I thought I would never find my granddaughter again!’
‘Where were you when your son was giving Randi away?’ asks Angie bitterly
‘I admit my son was wrong. I didn’t know. We lost touch shortly after he married Iris. Iris disliked me she hated that I stood up to her that I wouldn’t up with her pushing him around. He was like another person with her whatever she wanted he did. He was like some kind of robot with her she sucked the very life ,the very good out of him.’ Andrew says sadly
‘Yes I’ve known people like that.’ Angie admits
‘If I had known where Randi was i would have gotten her. They would tell me where she was .Said it was better for her. I didn’t agree but I got nowhere even my private detective couldn’t find her after he was gone.’ Andrew says ‘and now my arrival has shocked her so bad she’s gone into early labour.’
‘It wasn’t your fault that Randi is in trouble. She has eclampsia. It affects pregnant women and rises the blood pressure .They are going to go ahead and deliver the baby as soon as possible.’ Angie explains
‘God take care of them.’ both Andrew prays
‘Yvonne may come here. Are you okay with that?’ asks Angie
‘That woman is out? But she got twenty years .She killed my boy.’ Andrew says
‘She has suffered too. To take a life one she loved and lose her daughter.’ Angie says
‘What do you mean? My boy had his child.’ Andrew says
‘Only after he took her from Yvonne and then cruelly didn’t return giving her into the foster care system.’ Angie says
‘My boy didn’t take her Yvonne gave her to him that’s what Iris said. ’Andrew says
‘Really and you trust Iris after what you said?’ Angie asks
‘Well I don’t have to like the woman she killed my boy .I will however be civil to her for Randi’s sake as long as she doesn’t hurt my Randi!’ Andrew states
‘You better go slow Randi has had a lot of shocks lately with her Mom and her stepson coming into her life and now you so go easy with her. Be the grandfather she needs but only if she wants it.’ Angie says
‘I want to be in my granddaughter’s life again I won’t push however we will take it as slow as she wants.’ Andrew says
‘That’s good then.’ says Angie ‘Shall we pray for our grandbabies?’
‘Yes let us pray for them surely God will hear and protect them.’ says Andrew

‘How did you get in here? Where is security?’Amanda asks as this sharp dressed older man whom Amanda thinks looks like the Santa Claus from the 1947 Miracle on 34 th street, as he has a neatly trimmed beard and moustache as well as the neatly trimmed white hair
“I’m sorry Miss the guard had stepped away and I was told I could find Randi Morgan here.’ Says the man calmly
‘You can’t be in here aren’t you a little old to be a stalker asks Amanda as Randi steps into the room from the bathroom area.
‘I really need to see Randi Morgan.’ The man says
‘I’m Randi are you a fan?’ Randi says holding out her hand as Amanda frowns
‘Hi Randi do you remember me?’Asks the man
‘I know you? Have we met before? ‘asks Randi
‘A long time ago we met another lifetime ago!’ says the man mysteriously choking up
‘I think you should go.’ Amanda says worried that this man is a stalker and dangerous despite his appearance
‘Look miss I mean Randi no harm. She’s family.’ The man says
‘I’m what? Maybe she’s right maybe you should go.’ Randi says
‘Look at me don’t I look familiar at all Randi? ‘The man asks
‘Sort of but. I don’t remember you. How are we related?’ asks Randi
‘My name is Andrew .Andrew Morgan. I am your grandfather your father’s father. ’He says as Randi faints
‘Oh no what did I do?’Andrew asks ‘Is she okay he asks of Amanda as she checks on Randi
‘I don’t know maybe you should call for an ambulance she’s seven months pregnant and this was quite a shock’ Amanda says
‘Hello yes there’s a pregnant woman here .She’s how far along did you say?’ asks

‘Seven and a half months ‘Amanda says being exact
‘Yes she’s breathing. No it’s not laboured. She’s had a shock and she’s collapsed .’Andrew says into the phone’ Yes I’ll stay on the line.’
‘Randi are you okay honey?’ asks Amanda
‘I just feel dizzy. Did he say he was my grandfather my dad’s father?’Asks Randi
“Yes he did but we will make him prove it. Don’t you worry about it.’ Amanda says protecting Randi
‘You gave me candy and a doll when I was little. I called her Randi 2 because she was black like me .’ Randi says
‘You remember that I looked all over for that doll.’ Andrew says “we can talk later dear girl. You just relax and look after yourself and my other grandbaby.’
The EMT’s rush into Fusion assess Randi and advise that she needs to go to the hospital.
“She needs to be checked out to make sure everything is okay.’ Says the EMT
‘Randi reaches out to Andrew Morgan saying “Will you come with me Grandpa?’
‘Darling girl of course I’m coming with you .’ Andrew says
Randi arrives at Happy Valley hospital and is met by Frankie and Caitlin
‘Hello Randi what seems to be the problem here ?’asks Caitlin
‘I was dizzy I’ve been dizzy all morning and then my grandfather introduced himself and I fainted.’ Randi explains
‘Your grandfather where is this man I’ll get rid of him.’ says Frankie angrily
‘He really is Frankie .Don’t be mean to him. I want to get to know him. This wasn’t his fault .He didn’t even know I was pregnant.’ Randi says
‘Frankie don’t get my patient too excited .Her blood pressure is soaring.’ Caitlin cautions Frankie
‘Sorry Sweetie ‘Frankie instantly counters realizing how serious this is ’Do you think it is eclampsia?’ he asks Caitlin
‘Yes.’
‘Hey patient here tell me what’s going on not just him. What is eclampsia? Is the baby okay?’ asks Randi worried
‘I suspect that you have a condition called eclampsia. It is very serious condition that causes serious health problems .It’s a danger to you and your child .Do you have any nausea vomiting headaches?’ asks Caitlin
‘I have one dilly of a headache since last night.’ Randi says ’Oh what’s going on my mouth is twitching.’
Randi has a seizure and then goes unconscious again.
‘We have to deliver the baby tonight Frankie.’ Says Caitlin ‘all the signs are that Randi is at risk’
‘Just do it.’ says Frankie worried about Randi.
‘There is a chance the baby is older than we thought if so we won’t have to take preemie measures when your child is born.’ Caitlin says
‘Just save Randi and my child says Frankie signing the papers as they take Randi into the surgical unit to get her ready for surgery
Frankie goes into the hallway and tries to pull himself together for Randi.
‘I just heard is Randi okay?’ asks Angie
‘It’s too early mom and she has eclampsia. She’s had a seizure and she’s unconscious.’ Frankie says wiping away astray tear.
‘It’s going to be okay son. God give us challenges to meet but God will look after Randi and my grand babe.’ Angie says
‘I sure hope so Mom!’Frankie says
‘I’m going to say a prayer for her in the chapel. ’Angie says
‘Thanks mom I’m going back in with her until they take her into surgery. Maybe Caitlin will let me come in with her while she does the surgery.’ Frankie says
‘I’ll call your Dad. Thank goodness Andrew is with his mom.’ Angie says
‘Yes while Mia agreed he could come visit me this summer for two months.’ Frankie says ’That starts next week
‘Don’t worry we will handle that when we need to.’ Angie says then as Frankie goes back in with Randi she calls Jesse
‘Jesse Randi is in the hospital .The baby is coming tonight yes I know it’s too soon.See you soon I’ll be in the chapel praying.’ Angie says into her phone

‘Randi you’re positively glowing today pregnancy agrees with you.’ Amanda says
‘You wouldn’t say that if you knew how long I stayed in the bathroom this morning throwing up. If I’m glowing it’s because I’m hot what is it 125 degrees in here?’ asks Randi fanning herself
‘I remember those days when the temperature gauge just refused to work.’ Amanda says
‘Well it’s been a great three months since Mom has been in my life but she’s a worldwind .Mom tires me out.’ Randi says
‘I can believe that I’d only met the woman and she was able to run get us coffee and muffins then run across get lunch run some personal errands and get back her all within a half hour. She tired me out just watching her.’ Amanda admits
‘You don’t have to say that to make me feel better. Randi says ‘she really is trying too hard to make everything up to me.’ she complains
‘Maybe you should be honest with her and tell her she’s smothering you!’ Amanda says
‘I don’t want to hurt her feelings.’ Randi says
‘But it’s okay to hurt yours?’ Amanda says
‘Yes I guess you’re right. I have to set boundaries or she’s going to always be in my face.She’s always forgetting I’m adult too’ Randi complains
‘Set her down and tell her that nicely she’ll understand .It’s not like you don’t want her to come around at all.’ Amanda states
‘Okay I’ll do it when I see her. Do you think I look big in this outfit?’ asks Randi
‘No you just have that tiny beach ball out in front.’ Amanda says soothingly
‘I had nothing to wear today,’ Randi complains “it was so bad I almost didn’t come to work.’
‘But you’re wearing that lovely dress. It’s so chic!’ Amanda states
‘I was sitting on the bed crying my eyes out. Frankie asked me what was wrong and I started crying more and he called his mom Angie. Angie said tell her to look in the box at the bottom of the closet.I opened the box and her was this beautiful dress .It fit perfect baby and all! Frankie put me on the phone and Angie said she remembered what is as like not to have your clothes fit so she’d bought me this dress that can fit until the baby is born. She left as a surprise knowing that one day this would happen as it had to her.’ Randi explains
‘Randi you are one of the luckiest women around. You have the best mother-in law besides mine and you have a mother who puts you first.’ Amanda says
‘I’m sorry you were cheated in the mother department.’ Randi says sympathetically
‘Maybe but who else can say they have two mother-in laws who treat you like you are their flesh and blood daughter.’ Amanda says
‘There is that. ’Randi says
‘Are you ready for the shoot? Kendall and Greenlee said to tell you they have a surprise for you. All the maternity clothes you wear today? The designer maternity clothes they are yours to keep.’ Says Amanda smiling
‘Wow you’re kidding! You’re not kidding? There all mine! I have the best bosses ever.’ Randi says as she gets ready for the shoot behind a divider putting on the first outfit for the shoot.

Dottie’s Coffee Shop
‘Yes you should have seen him Jesse .William and Mike were trying to shinny up that tree to get a better spot to see the fireworks when I came back with the hotdogs. I don’t know which one got down first William or Mike when they saw the food and eat those boys ate like there was a food shortage. We’re we ever like that Jesse filling our bellies so fast and with so much food. Dottie was giving me heck said it was no wonder Jenny had a stomach ache. Kathy was so happy to get out of the house though it was great to rent that wheelchair and get her out and about. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that before .I purchased one this morning and took it home so she can go out now for short periods. Her constant shadow Aaron is always over he might as well move in” Tad rattles on a mile a minute
‘Tad do you ever shut-up?Geesh man I have big news.’ Jesse says
‘Big news? Randi’s having twins?’ asks Tad joking
“Tad don’t be silly this is serious!’Jesse admonishes
‘So what’s going on Jesse?’Tad asks
‘We had some business go down last night. Randi’s mother showed up last night,’ Jesse says

‘She’s alive and a memento of my past. ’Jesse says
‘Your past but she’s Randi’s mom .Oh my god don’t tell me Jesse that ooh that’s just to yucky.’ Tad says breaking off
‘God forbid man! But you’re mighty warm she did try to get me in her bed.’ Jesse says
‘I give up who is Randi’s mom?’ asks Tad
‘Yvonne Caldwell is Randi’s mom.’ Jesse says
‘Yvonne is Randi’s mom? But how and how is Randi’s mom alive? Did she say her mom died from breast cancer?’ asks Tad
‘It’s a long story Tad. Yvonne got involved with the wrong man yet again. Randi’s dad was a high society guy and he didn’t want his wife to find out about Randi .when she did she helped Randi’s dad get rid of her in the social care system. Yvonne was sick with breast cancer and he used that to make them believe she was dying and he told his daughter she was dead.’
‘But where has Yvonne been all this time while Randi suffered?’Asks Tad
‘Jail. She killed Randi’s father by accident trying to get him to tell her where Randi was. She just got out after 20 years she’s done her time.’ Jesse explains
‘How did Randi take this?’Asks Tad
‘Okay .she was happy I hope it continues that way. You know Yvonne is a little flaky.’ Jesse states
‘How did Angie take this? She must not have been too happy to see Yvonne again.’ Tad says
‘Angie just wanted to be there for Randi. She’s so excited about our grandchildren. She’s out buying William new clothes today because he has to go home with his mom tomorrow.’ Jesse says
‘You watch your step Jesse. Angie was really hurt by Yvonne before don’t let her do it again.’ Warns Tad
‘I’ll tread easy Tad but I need you to look in to someone and something for me.” says Jesse
‘Has this to with Yvonne?’ asks Tad
‘Yes and no but I can’t let anything harm my daughter-in law.’ Jesse says
‘Quit being so mysterious and tell me who you want me to look in to’ says Tad sipping his coffee
Jesse looks around and then whispers ‘Randi’s father was married to Iris Blanco. I won’t have that woman harm her again I want some dirt on her Tad.’ Jesse says
‘Oh hello Tad ,Jesse.’ Says Dottie ‘There’s an election coming up in November what would you think if I ran against Iris Blanco. I think I’d make a better mayor ‘Dottie says

‘Oh hello Tad ,Jesse.’ Says Dottie ‘There’s an election coming up in November what would you think if I ran against Iris Blanco. I think I’d make a better mayor ‘Dottie says

‘Come in Yvonne’ Angie says letting Yvonne in ‘Randi’s waiting for you with Frankie in the living room.’
‘Is she mad at me?’ asks Yvonne worried
‘I don’t know Yvonne you’ll have to talk to her yourself I know she wants to see you.’ Angie says
‘Is Jesse here too? Asks Yvonne looking around
‘Frankie, Randi and Jesse are all waiting in the living room.’ Angie says ’But I wanted to speak to you first. Go slow Yvonne that girl has been through a world of hurt.’
‘And it’s my fault.’ Admits Yvonne
‘Some of it is but we all make choices some worse than others!’ Angie says cryptically
‘I know and i don’t want to hurt my baby any more but I missed her so!’ Yvonne says
‘I know that’s why I’m allowing this but if you do anything to hurt her so help me Yvonne.....’Angie says
‘I know Angie I know!’Yvonne says interrupting ‘can I see my daughter now Angie?’

Randi is seated sitting up very nervously on the sofa. She sees her mother and says
‘Mom? You really are alive?’
‘Yes baby I’m so sorry!’ Yvonne says crying softly which starts Randi crying
‘They told me you were dead. I cried for you and they told me you were never coming back.’ Randi cries as Yvonne reaches for her trying to hug her she shrinks back a little
‘What is the matter baby? ‘Asks Yvonne
‘Do you have an idea what I went through?’Asks Randi
‘Some of it. They took you from me. He said he would take you out spoil you a little and bring you back but he never came back. I was sick do you remember Randi?’Asks Yvonne
‘I remember you cut your hair after it started failing out.’ Randi says
‘That’s right I had breast cancer I was down to my last few cents. I needed him to help me just a little to get back on my feet. But instead he took you. I begged I pleaded with them to tell me where you were .They wouldn’t tell me. I begged him to help me and he laughed at me. I’m sorry baby I killed your daddy. I went to jail and couldn’t rescue you I failed you!’Yvonne says
‘You killed my father? H was still my father and it was her! His wife that gave me away. Her name was Iris I think!’ Randi says
‘Yes she testified at my trial and lied that I had been stalking him for a long time. I swear on your life baby I didn’t! That woman was pure evil! It was an accident baby I didn’t mean to harm him I didn’t even realize the gun was loaded.’ Yvonne says
‘I hope I never meet her again I hate her.’ Randi says as Jesse and Angie share a look that says they hope she never discovers that Iris Blanco leaves in Happy Valley and is the Mayor
‘I love you baby never doubt that. For the last twenty years I’ve been searching for you. Through records in the prison and when I got access to the computers I searched.’ Yvonne explains’ Please tell me baby what happened to you. Something happened didn’t it and it was my fault for not rescuing you!
‘While you were jail I was surviving! No one wanted me I went from home to home. The worst home was when I was thirteen. My foster sister Carmen who had always been there ran away they transferred me to a new home yet again. They had a son who was 19 years old and he was all hands. 'My friend Yvonne saw her daughter alive well and here in Happy Valley!’Jesse says
‘Wow that’s wonderful where is she did you help them reunite?’ asks Randi
‘Randi....’ begins Frankie figuring out what Jesse meant
‘Randi that little girl was you. My old friend Yvonne your mother is alive!’Jesse says
As we see Randi look shocked
‘My mom is alive she didn’t die? Asks Randi ’Are you sure Jesse?’
‘Yes Randi your mother is alive and she wants to see you!’ Jesse says gently
‘I don’t know. Do you know what I went through did Frankie tell you?’Asks Randi seeming embarrassed
‘We know Randi and it wasn’t your fault any of it.’ Says Angie gently
‘I lived in so many foster homes. I’d just get happy and they’d move me again.’ Randi says sadly “none of them wanted me a mixed race child. I used to try and hide and hope they wouldn’t notice me too much.’
‘What happened to you Randi did something happen in one of those foster homes?’Asks Angie gently suspecting abuse
‘It was the home after Carmen left. When she left the people who’d been looking after us decide they couldn’t care for me and I was sent to another home. At that home was a young man he was the son of the foster parents and he started touching me and then climbing into bed with me. He threatened me if I told anyone he said he would kill me .I was 13 years old and this abuse went on for about 3 more years until I ran away .I was hungry and homeless and a man Fletcher offered me shelter and food so I took it but there was a price to be paid. I had to prostitute myself.’ Randi says crying
‘Frankie told us about this!’ says Angie
‘And you still treat me like a daughter and except me as Frankie’s wife?’Randi asks surprised’I mean i thought Jesse knew because of my record but you knew Angie?’
‘Yes I knew!You re our beloved daughter honey, the beloved wife of Frankie. None of this is your fault.’ Says Angie fiercely
‘I love you guys ‘says Randi wiping tears away
‘We love you too!’Says Angie as Frankie takes Randi in his arms
‘What do you want to do Randi?’ asks Frankie “do you want to see Yvonne?’
‘I’m scared!’Randi admits “when I thought of my mother it was that she died and now to find out that I was stolen from her that we could have been together. That she killed my father. What if she’s ashamed of me what if she finds out that I used to sleep for men for money?’
‘If she loves you she’ll not hold that against you’ Frankie says “besides who is she to judge she killed your father.’
‘I sort of remember him and another woman who was with him.’ Randi says ‘I remember his wife finding to about me and saying to him that they had to get rid of me. She took me to my first foster home’
‘I’m sorry Randi that all this happened to you!’Frankie says hugging his wife some more
‘Yes me too! I want to see my mother where is she?’Asks Randi
‘I’ll call her I’m sure she can be here soon if that’s what you want Randi’ Jesse says

Angie and Jesse’s new home
‘Frankie is William here?’ asks Angie
‘No he’s gone off with Tad, Mike, and Jenny to the fireworks. I know you wanted him for dinner but he wanted so bad to go off with Mike and Tad we didn’t have the heart to say No “explains Frankie ’Tad’s probably stuffing him with pizza, pogos, chips and soda as we speak’
‘Good your Dad and I have something we want to talk to you and Randi about’ Angie says
‘If it’s about the fact that Frankie didn’t tell any of us about William .....’Begins Randi defending Frankie
‘No it’s something that we have to talk about though in private’ says Jesse
‘This sounds very serious did something happen to Natalia and Brot again? Are they okay?’ asks Randi worried
‘Come sit down so we can talk you two’ says Angie trying to appear not worried
‘What is it Ma what’s up?’ asks Frankie sitting down with Randi
‘I had a visitor today at my office’ says Jesse ‘Someone I knew from the past a long time ago .’
‘That must have been nice seeing old friends! Randi says then seeing Jesse’s face she says “Wasn’t it.’
‘It was and it wasn’t she told me a very sad story that happened to her. It seems that my friend had a child a beautiful daughter with a man. She was a travelling singer a sultry singer of blues and sad soul ballads. She was good too so good that a lot of people thought she should have a record contract.’
‘Wow that’s pretty good my Mom was that good too. She sang ballads and the blues.’ Randi says remembering
‘Well my friend trusted this man and he offered her what she had truly wanted a way to be discovered by a record company. She was grateful and she fell in love with this man. They had a child together but he was always travelling as was she .They had a long term relationship as he kept promising that the record company was this close to signing her.’
‘Oh the oldest story in the book. He had a wife.’ Says Randi
‘Yes he was married but she didn’t find out until the child was five and then she broke it off with him.’ Jesse says
‘That was a strong woman!’Randi comments
‘Yes she supported her young daughter playing in clubs at night and getting friends to babysit well she sang!’Jesse says ’however one day when the child was seven she found out she had breast cancer. She grew gaunt and her hair fell out from the radiation. She was sure she was going to die the doctors gave her six months. But she fought hard and she was feeling like she was winning the battle. The treatments and the disease took a toll on her however so she contacted him. The child would need her father if she was wrong and she should die. Besides she needed some financial help.’
‘How odd she had cancer like my mom when I was seven’ Says Randi
‘Yes!’ says Jesse and then continuing he says ‘The man came and he offered to take the child for the night. She was weak and needed the rest so she agreed. She awoke the next morning and he hadn’t come back. She was sure he would arrive at any moment but he didn’t come .She called all the numbers she had for him with no answer. She was sure that it was just an error he would come back but she filed a missing person case by sunset. He however lived in another city. He lived in Pine Valley. He took his little girl there and surrendered her to the child authorities saying she had been abandoned. My friend had no idea he had done this she lived in California not Pennsylvania and he had said he lived in Miami Florida that’s where she had always seen him. She went out of my mind a little! Her little girl was missing. She found him,her little girl’s Daddy and begged him to help her to tell her where he had taken her child. He laughed at her and told her that his wife hadn’t wanted that child in their house and that he had given her to the Children’s Aid in Pine Valley like a sack of potatoes. She went to the authorities but by this time two weeks had passed. They had told her little girl that she was dead. They said she had abandoned the child she had no discernable income and was not getting her daughter back. They had transferred the child and wouldn’t tell her where she was.
She went back to the little girls’ father begging pleading him to tell her where they had taken her daughter to help her....’
‘Oh how awful Jesse the poor lady. Did she get her little girl back?’ asks Randi
‘No she didn’t and something worse happened to her. She had a pistol when she went back she pulled it from her purse and held it to him so he would tell her where her child was.’
‘He wouldn’t tell her? What kind of man steals a woman’s child and then won’t give her any information where she is. Did he know where the child was? ’Asks Randi
‘He knew but he wouldn’t tell her. He laughed at her instead he said he wasn’t even sure she was his and besides what good was she with no breasts! Besides she was a walking corpse he was doing the child a favor. She lost it. She took that gun and held it at him but chickened out and put it away. She said find her little girl now call them and make them give her back! He laughed at her again and said she’d be better off without her that she was easy! That she was going to die anyway! She told him that she was expecting to hear that she would soon to be cancer free! He said it didn’t matter she’d never find her. His wife Iris had seen to it she’d helped him with his problem! She pulled out the gun again and they fought over the gun as she begged for information of where her child was ! It went off and killed him dead! The police came and she went to jail! The lawyer was paid by the state and gave no defence she got 20 years! She got out of jail a month ago and picking up a magazine and she saw her daughter! She saw my daughter alive well and here in Happy Valley!’Jesse says

I got pregnant and had the most beautiful little girl .And I walked away from him because I I reached out to him because I was sick and couldn’t work just asking for some money for I knew he was never going to be there for us I was working getting gigs singing managing putting a roof over my head and my beloved daughter’s
. My little girl was seven when I got the breast cancer. I was so sick with breast cancer my body was ravished .I grew gaunt and my hair fell out from the radiation. I was sure I was going to die the doctors gave me six months. I fought hard and was feeling like I was winning the battle. That scum her daddy just swooped in I thought he was just helping out when I was so sick! I should have known he was getting rid of the evidence of his infidelity so his wife didn’t find out about her! He took her out the one day and didn’t come back! I called everywhere searching for my daughter

Those awful social workers claimed he said I was dead. When I said that was impossible that she was mine that I would die for her. They said it was too late she was gone!
