Happy Valley-Part 11-Aaron and Caitlin’s Story Resolution
Annie gazed in wonder at little Scotty lying his basket! Which Scotty’s cot is so close to Annie’s bed she can touch it!!
“Oh my sweet little boy Mommy is so sorry she let that evil lady get you! Mommy will never let anyone take you again!’ Annie says to Scotty touching his arm. Marvelling over his finger and toes counting each one! Annie thinks back to last night when Tyler brought Scotty back.
Flashback to the night before
Annie’s new room that they’ve just returned her to after her surgery
Annie hears the cry of Scotty and looks for him still half under the results of the anaesthesia she at first sees him in Ryan’s arms then she sees clearly that he is in Tyler’s arms .She smiles and holds out her arms to her baby tears in her eyes
“But how? ’ asks Annie
“It’s Easter a day for miracles! All things are possible today! ’says Tyler
How will I be ever able to thank-you?’ says Annie
“A kiss from the fair maiden and a thank-you to Dottie Martin who got her to give Scotty to me!’ says Tyler
Annie kisses Tyler on the cheek as she gazes with true love at her son and Emma walks into this!
“Mom are you okay? ’asks Emma frowning at Tyler
“I am now! Caitlin Mc Gillis took your brother Scotty! Tyler brought him back I thought I’d never see Scotty again! I thought I go out of my mind and they insisted I go into surgery! I wanted to find your brother but I couldn’t Tyler promised me he find him and he did!’ says Annie looking at Tyler with admiration
“Mom it’s really nice that Tyler got him back and I’m grateful but don’t you think you should let Dad know everything is okay!’ says Emma pointedly
“Emma I’ll tell your father but right now I want to enjoy your little brother! Isn’t he adorable he looks just like you at this age except for his hair color .Look at his dark hair like his Daddy!Oh Scott you should have been here for this’ says Annie crying now
“Are you sure your okay!’Mom you’re crying do you want me to get someone? Maybe you should leave and come back later Tyler! It was wonderful of you to find my brother I can’t thank –you enough but my mom needs her rest. You understand how stressful this has been!’ says Emma pointedly
“Oh yes right sorry! I’ll come by and see you later Annie and In a month you owe me that date don’t forget!’ says Tyler leaving
“Are you sure you’re okay Mom?’ asks Emma again’ should I get your shrink?’
“I’m fine Emma! It’s hormones baby! Most moms have this swing after birth!’ explains Annie
“Oh okay if you’re sure! See what I brought my brother? ’ asks Emma pulling out a bag and pulling out a baseball outfit with a little bat.”See even cute little shoes!’ she says pulling out a pair of little blue newborn running shoes
“Ah Emma! That’s so sweet of you! ’says Annie wiping her eyes” Scotty loves them don’t you Scotty!”
“I was so scared mom when I heard that you had first gone into labor and then that my little brother had been snatched and then they told me they had to take you into surgery and I couldn’t get a hold of Dad! I called and called his cell phone but there was no answer! Where is Daddy?’ asks Emma clearly upset and overwrought trying to keep it together but filing miserably.
“Someone called me ?’ says Ryan from the doorway
“Daddy ,oh daddy! I was so worried!’ says Emma throwing herself in Ryan’s arms
“What’s all this are you jealous all ready Emma?’ asks Ryan clearly not knowing what has happened
“Daddy I couldn’t get a hold of you! Aaron was beaten up and you’ll never guess who did it. Aunt Caitlin!’ says Emma matter of fact almost gossipy -like
“Nonsense Caitlin would never harm her son who’s telling such lies? demands Ryan imperiously ”They’ll wish they were never born telling lies about my sister!’
“Daddy I didn’t want to believe it either! She is very ill! Mentally ill!’ says Emma shaking her head sadly
“Emma Lavery I don’t care how old you are if you don’t quit telling me these lies about your Aunt I’m going to take you across my knee and spank you! I thought you might have your nose put out a little by a new siblings but this is ridiculous these attention getting stories!’ says Ryan
Emma starts crying because Ryan doesn’t believe her as Annie says
“Ryan Lavery you should be ashamed of yourself! Emma was not only telling the truth there’s more. Catilin broke into Aaron’s room and tied up Dottie Martin then she came here to me and stoled my son. She took my Scotty my baby boy! For hours i didn’t know where she had my boy but then he was returned ! That’s what your sainted sister did!’ says Emma” Now apologize to your daughter!’
“I don’t understand this doesn’t make any sense I would have known!’ insists Ryan
“Ryan you are not God even though you think you are how were you to know? None of us suspected of course I hadn’t met her!’ says Annie slightly annoyed
“There’s no mistake she did all this!’ says Emma and Annie
“She has that weird psychological disease kind of like Sybil! You know the faces of Sybil that old movie!’ says Emma
“Oh my God !How long has she been like this asks Ryan suddenly believing
“You’d have to talk to her doctor !’ says Emma “Jesse had to take her to the Criminal Insane wing at Happy Valley Santitorium!’
‘I just get my sister back and this is what happen! I should never have left here alone when we were kids!’It’s my fault! I left her with him and this is what happens!’ says Ryan as Scotty starts crying. Annie picks him up and sets him on a her chest soothing him
“Ryan you were not responsible for your father and his failing you needed to get over the blame and help Caitlin and Aaron!’’ says Annie opening her gown enough to feed Scotty but not enough so either Emma or Ryan can see as she places a receiving blanket over Scotty’s head !
“Are you okay Daddy?’ asks Emma
“I will be!’ says Ryan ”Can you stay here for awhile Em? I want to see Caitlin and have an appointment with my doctor!’
“Your doctor Daddy is it your heart? Are you sure you’re okay?’ demands Emma looking worried
“I’m fine Emma! Your Dad decide to do some reflection after his heart attack! I’m actually seeing a psychiatrist! To deal with the problems of my youth and to be a better father and someday husband to someone!’ he says pointedly looking at Annie
“A shrink? Daddy have you slipped a cog too?’ asks Emma
“No I’ve actually come to my senses and realized that my behavior effects others! On that note I want to apologize to you Emma I should have believed you! I’m truly sorry that you’re old Dad made you cry!’ says Ryan
‘I love you Daddy!” says Emma
“I love you too pumpkin!’ says Ryan ”Annie you have a beautiful new son here he says dropping off a bag and leaving
Annie looks on in shock and surprise at the departing Ryan then opens the bag and inside she finds a package of newborn diapers. Some receiving blankets ,a silver rattle, a Maple Leafs hockey jersey newborn size, and some little pants and
t-shirts!’
“Oh Ryan this is so sweet Annie says to his departing back!’
