Happy Valley- Part 3 - Aaron and Caitlin's story

The next day
Kathy is waking up remembers about Aaron only to find herself tethered to monitors and oxygen
"What's going on ?she asks the nurse as she comes in motioning to the tubes and monitors
'Dr.Hawyard was quite distressed that you took off the monitors last night and got in a wheelchair to go somewhere"says the nurse who's built like a linebacker and is six feet tall sternly"You really have to take better care of yourself!' These are necessaryit isn't for show! You need oxygen and you need to be monitored!'
"My boyfriend is in critical condition I had to go see him and make sure he knew how much I loved him !In fact I'm going to see him now!'says Kathy
"I will send someone to see how he's doing you young lady are not going anywhere says the nurse
" I said I'm going now I'm going you can either help me or get out of my way!'says Kathy
'Sorry dear I have my orders I can restrain you if you want to be difficult or drug you .You could certainly use the rest!'says the nurse calmly
"What is your name? I want to get right when I get you fired! My grandfather used to be the chief of this hospital you know!'says Kathy angrily
'My name is Reena !Dr.Hayward is the chief of staff besides I know your grandfather and your grandmothers both very well.They would thank me for taking care of their grandaughter and keeping her alive but not letting her do anything that threatend her health.Now don't stress yourself young lady!I know you love this young man and we will see how he is but if you want him to be able to see you and be there for him you need to get better.And that means taking better care of yourself resting and taking your meds and eating right!'says the Reena sternly
'I'm sorry Reena I just have to know how he is!'says Kathy genuinely sorry for talking to anyone that way
'Sweetie I will send someone to see how he's doing and if you rest today I promise tomorrow will pack up your monitors and takea trip down the hall and see how he's doing !'promises Reena
"Oh thank-you but when will you know how he is now though?'asks Kathy
"I all ready sent Keitha down to check on him!she should be here any minute !'says Reena
"Reena I went to the McGillis boy's room !He still unconscious no change!There keeping him sedated to bring down the swelling on his brain!'says Keitha coming in
"Thanks Keitha but didn't I specifically state that you were to tell me in private?' Reena says her eyes rolling at Keitha and motioning towards Kathy
"He's not better?I have to go to him!"says Kathy
"We had a deal remember?says Reena "you have to rest and get better today!Tomorrow I will take you to Aaron !'
"But he needs me!' whines Kathy
"What he needs is for you to feel better how can he get better himself if he has to worry about you!'says Reena
"I want my Dad!'cries Kathy
"I'll phone him" says Reena"anything if you just take your medicine and eat your breakfast!'Is that a deal?
"Fine just call my Daddy please!'agrees Kathy as she takes the pills wolfs them down
"I'll call your Dad when your finished eating" says Reena
As Kathy eats her breakfast and then finishing she gets a strange look on her face
"Hey you pulled something funny what was in those pills?'asks Kathy"you betttter calllllllll my Daddd!she says slurring as she falls asleep
'Poor sweetie don't you worry now I'll call your dad for you but he said he'd be back from the cafeteria after breakfast!'says Reena smiling at Kathy
"She's still sleeping?" says Tad coming in
"Sorry Mr.Martin she got very agitated about the McGillis boy she wanted to get up out of bed and go to him again!"says Reena"I had to drug her!Herheart rate was too high and her color was bad !' She was getting very stressed!'
"I'm sorry Reena did she give you any problems!'asks Tad
"Nothing I couldn't handle but she really wants someone to be with Aaron!'says Reena
'Dottie has taken time off from her restaurant and is sitting with Aaron!'says Tad pointedly"and when she's not there T.J is !''Poor T.J. he's been devastated about all this Caitlin business !I know he cared about her and Aaron!' My son Mike is so worried and so is Jenny but they needed not to miss school !they can't miss anymore school!
As he's interrupted by a dcotor in a whitecoat coming in!
""Hello my name is Dr.Seabrooke we met before Mr.Martin do you remember?'says Colleen coming in Kathy's room"how is my patient doing Reena ?'
"But I thought she was Dr.Hayward's patient!'says Reena
"She is but I'm still consulting we want the best care for Kathy!In fact Dr.Hayward has convinced me to stay on staff here!'says Colleen
"So how is Kathy?'Tad asks after Colleen reads Kathys' chart and checks the monitors
"She is considerable better in some ways but her heart is still delicate.She needs to be kept as stress free as possible !She has a long recovery ahead of her if her heart is going to heal!
"How long ?'asks Tad
'A year or more it's hard to tell!'answers Colleen
"That long but you said she was better!'says Tad not quite believing what he's hearing
"Mr.Martin she's young and that is in her favor for her heart to heal he takes time and rest!'says Colleen
"That's going to be hard she so worried about her boyfriend Aaron .He's in crtical condition !His mother pushed him down some stairs after beating him up!'explains Tad
'I have to be honest Mr.Martin though I haven't seen my sister in years Caitlin is my sister and aron is my nephew!'admits Colleen"is that going to create a conflict here?'
"Your Ryan's other sister ?the one he mentioned once in passing that was missing?'asks Tad
"Yes but I didn't realize they were here and I haven't spoke to any to them!says Colleen
"That's got to be hard!'says Tad'but you know siblings really enrich your life.When I thought my sister was dead for so long it was so hard but miraculously I found out Jenny was alive!And it was my brother Adrian who helped me find her and save her.The brother that I didn't meet until I was an adult!If you have a chance to be with your sibling you have to reach out or you'll regret it!"says Tad
"Wow that was such a passionate speech your siblings sound very lucky to have you in theri lives."says Colleen
"Like I said 'says Tad "they enrich my life .My younger brother is a doctor Jake ,My older brother Jeff is too but either of them would do anything for me and so would my sister Jenny and my brother Adrian I am the blessed one!'says Tad passionately
"Dottie is a lucky woman !"says Colleen admiring Tad's passion
"Hello Martin!'says David coming in and seeing Tad with Colleen and not realizing but he's jealous
'How is your daughter David ?'asks Tad trying to be civilized
"Rose is fine !She's taking advanced calculus at a university level!"brags David
"Really? Wow she's so smart David!When do I get to meet the wonderful Rose?'asks Colleen leaving an opening
"How about tonight? "asks Davidnot realizing that he's really been out manovered!
"Ah Patients Dad here !'Go get a room!' says Tad half -joking
"Really Tad quit being juevenile we are very professional here !'says David annoyed"my patient is doing a lot better .Thank you Reena for folowing my orders and sedating her she needed to rest and not stress about Aaron!'
As Colleen turns her head and smiles a satisfied cat got the mouse smile thrilled that David seems interested in her!
"See you later Mr.Martin!' and then lowering her voice sexily she says " David!'
"Wow David if I didn't know an better I'd think the woman liked you she must not know you well!'says Tad
"I'll be back later Tad!he saysto Tad and then leaving he says"If I have anything to say and I do she'll get to know me lots better !'says David under his breath
Flash to Caitlin who has somehow got to a vending machine and is eating a pastry and drinking coffee hiding in a linen closet down the hall from Aaron's room as she plots her next move!
